- Slow down as soon as you approach the merge lane.

- Scan the situation at the merge lane. Check traffic on the main road in your interior mirror and left exterior mirror.
- If the main road is not free, then stop at the beginning of the merge lane and give the way to traffic on the main road.

- Once there’s enough space to merge, use the short merge road to gain speed.
