Verkeersdeelnemers

  • Road user / Traffic participant (weggebruiker / verkeersdeelnemer). Anybody that uses the road.
  • Pedestrians (voetganger). An special type of road user, who is on foot. People walking with bicycles and other vehicles in their hands are also pedestrians. As well as those using a wheelchair, drivers of vehicles for disabled persons, and others such vehicles in the footpath or sidewalk.
  • Driver (bestuurder). Also translated as director. Any road user that isn’t a pedestrian?
  • Driver of a motor vehicle (bestuurder van en motorvoertuig). Either the driver or the supervisor (eg. teacher or examiner)
  • Motor vehicle owner (eigenaar van een motorvoertuig). The owner (or somebody who uses a vehicle for an extended period of time.)
  • Military convoy (militaries colonne).
    1. First: Blue flag at the from right and left. Right blue light
    2. Middle: Blue flag on the rear (or single in the front?). Right blue light
    3. Last: Green flag on the front right. Right green light
  • Funeral procession (uitvaartstoet). Recognized by a flag. Black triangle with white stripes.
  • Traffic controllers / sergeants (verkeersregelaars en verkeersbrigadiers).
    • Professional. Temporary measures. +18ys

    • Event traffic controllers. +16ys
    • Traffic sergeant. Schools. +10ys
  • Vulnerable road users (kwetsbare verkeersdeelnemers). Those on foot or cyclists (vs. cars). Be mindful of those. For example kids are hard to see, young people take more risks, the elderly are slow to react.

Military convoys and funeral processions cannot be cut through.
