Today I read about how to do thinking one has to be able to fight through the boredom first.
In order to think, sometimes you have to power through a little boredom.
The author talks about, what he calls, the monkey mind. Describing how our minds jumps from one thought to the other when not focused on something specific. Those idle moments for the mind, while in bed, walking down the street, in the shower.
Today, while working on the garden, I tried to think about a specific arbitrary topic. It took me quite some discipline to stay on topic. My mind would wander around and after a couple of minutes I would remember “Oh I was supposed to think about that one thing”.
After a few attempts I got better and was able to stay on topic for longer and would realize faster when wandering off.
To think you have to stick to it. Discipline
There will always be distractions beckoning: Facebook. Instagram. YouTube. Texting an old flame. Getting chores done. Each part of your mind that is concerned with such things will make its wants known, and attempt to distract you. But if you refuse to be tempted for fifteen minutes (25 on a really bad day) you will find that the clamor in your mind will settle down and you will be able to concentrate on writing.
