After inspecting your car both externally and internally, take your place in the driver’s seat. From this position, adjust your steering wheel, seat, and mirrors to facilitate proper control of the car and maintain a clear view of the surrounding traffic.
Seating and Steering Position
The appropriate seating and steering position is as follows:
Seating Position
- Seat: Adjust until your knees are bent even when you depress the clutch pedal with your left foot. Your thighs should rest on the seat.
- Seat Height: Hips should be at the same level as your knees.
- Backrest: Should be at 100 degrees. Your lower back should rest against the backrest.
- Headrest: The top of the headrest should align with the top of your head.
Steering Position
- Maintain your hands at the “quarter to three” position.
- Your arms should be slightly bent.
Mirrors
Ensure your mirrors are properly adjusted before driving off, particularly when the car is also used by others.
Interior mirror:
- Adjust the center of your mirror to align with the center of your rear window.
- Aim to capture the entire rear window in your interior mirror.
Side mirrors:
- Position the horizon approximately a quarter of the way from the top of your mirror.
- Ensure you can see a portion of your car on both left and right sides in the mirror, along with as much of the adjacent and rear road as possible.
